My name is Tenzin Pema, born in Delhi/India. I am 20 years old. I spent most of my childhood in Sambhoda Tibetan School, Paonta Sahib. I am currently studying nursing at Queensborough Community College. I like sports and enjoy cooking in my spare time. Being a proud Tibetan girl and having same birthday as His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, makes me feel extremely lucky and special about myself.
HIs Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama once said, “If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.” As humorous as it sounds, I completely agree that even a girl like me can contribute a lot to our society and to people as an individual no matter your sex, race, color and your status in the society. If you believe in yourself and feel confident in yourself, you can do anything. Trust your heart. Follow your dream.
I have had lots of inspirers throughout my lifetime, but mostly, my mother's kind advices and care is what made me who I am today! She is my role model in life and I feel very blessed to have her guidance in my life. She taught me to be a confident women and to believe and love myself, but mostly, be a kind human being. Despite, moving to a completely different country like USA and having a very little knowledge of the place's language, my mother made sure that me and my sister get all the opportunity to be a better version of ourselves. Seeing me taking part in MTNA is a big gift and proud moment for her. Thank you so much Amala.
My goal is to boost up confidence for all the young girls like me. Also to inform them that, nothing is impossible if you are motivated and determined. I used to be one from those, who barely communicate and take part in any events. But I learnt to be me and face the world without any fear. It’s my mom’s and my goal to see me running in Miss Tibet Pageant. I can’t express in how happy I am to see myself doing something independently well and seeing my mom being proud of me.
I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to partake in Miss Tibet North America (2017), this has always been my childhood dream and the perfect opportunity to inspire many other Tibetan youngsters like me. I believe that Miss Tibet North America is the perfect platform to show how confident I am in our culture and us, Tibetan. If you believe in yourself and feel confident in yourself, you can do anything. Trust your heart, follow your dream.
THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH AND PLEASE SUPPORT ME!!! LOVE YOU ALL!!!
